Here’s a warning: Cassaia cinnamon (the most common, darker type) contains a compound called coumarin, which can damage the liver at high levels. One more reason to use Ceylon cinnamon instead! But Cassaia cinnamon is safe, as long as you don’t overdo it; a teaspoon or so every day with food will continue to be beneficial in all of the ways described above.

It should be noted that cinnamon has a mild anticoagulant effect on the blood, so in excess it can cause bleeding problems if a person is taking anticoagulant medications such as aspirin.

Pregnant women (or female dogs) should not take too much cinnamon as it can have a stimulating effect on the uterus.

Keep it in mind; cinnamon in small amounts, for example, half a teaspoon at each meal does much more good than harm. So enjoy it with your dog by sprinkling a little in one of his meals.
