Very Strange And Funny Animals

Nature, always surprising, offers species of animals, and fascinating individuals. There are animals that, due to their appearance, their strange behaviors, or because of their place in evolutionary processes, are out of the ordinary.

Some species of animals, due to their pigmentation, are completely black. In other cases, they are miniature animals that seem more typical of the cinema with their tiny sizes. Sometimes we can observe very strange species from the deep sea. There is a bat fish, called “red-lipped”, that uses its pectoral fins to literally walk along the bottom of the sea.

A shark that inhabits the oceans is the descendant of a family that comes from the first inhabitants of the earth. It is the last surviving representative of the so-called “Mitsukurinidae”, which originate from 125 million years ago. This animal lives from sea depths of 100 meters.

The Yoda bat, or also called “fruit bat”, comes from regions of New Guinea, in 2009. The discovery of this species is quite recent, which is why neither its name nor this species are yet fully documented. Its peculiar nose is striking, but also essential to be able to feed in the environment from which it comes, on scattered fruit seeds.

Very special bears and monkeys

The sun bear is the smallest of its kind. It is found in forests in the lowlands of South Asia and is the protagonist of many local legends, among other things, due to the brand of sun that it wears on its chest, which gives it its characteristic name. It feeds on fruits that it finds in its environment. The most usual are bananas and coconuts.

In Myanmar there is a monkey that gives the impression of having no nose. The reality is that your nasal appendage is very raised up, and it gives the impression of not existing. In this way, the rain penetrates his nostrils, and it is common to see him sneeze. It is a new species in the scientific world, but when it rains it is easy to locate them by hiding their heads between their legs so that the water does not enter their noses.

Strange little animals

The yeti crab is found deep in the waters of the South Pacific. It is a species that was located 2,228 meters south of Easter Island. It is a crustacean with enormous filaments on its extremities, as if it had gigantic claws. In theory, it would serve him to catch his food.

The so-called Arboreal Porcupine is also endowed with a large nasal appendage. His body can reach 55 cm. long, its tail between 33 and 48 cm and its weight reaches 4 kg. In the dorsal part there are a large number of strong and closely knit spines and quills, of various colors. The spines on the head, legs and tail are short; those on the back are long and very thick.

It has a round head, with a large, thick nose and lips, and small ears. The feet are built with wide extended pads, with four strong claws.

There is a type of shrews of such size, which are called elephant shrews. In their length, they reach 31 centimeters, with a tail that can exceed 25. Although their normal weight does not usually exceed 280 grams, on some occasions they can reach 700 grams. The hair on the dorsal part can vary, depending on the habitat where it lives, from a yellowish gray to a striking red.

Another good example of a strange and funny animal are the so-called sugar gliders. It is a nocturnal animal with arboreal customs. They are named for their preference for any food that is sugary. It is a very social species that forms groups of up to 7 specimens, mostly females. If it is in a state of captivity, it also needs the company of animals of its species.
