Doll is a pretty cinnamon-colored dog with pointed ears. Very friendly, affectionate and playful. Every day he liked to go out to a green area in the Protecho neighborhood in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela.

In Venezuela, the organizations that govern the country, hire external cleaning and maintenance companies that are in charge of keeping the city in which they reside beautiful, clean and cared for. In this case, in Ciudad Bolívar, a company called Aseo Capital was in charge.

Aseo Capital had been in charge of the maintenance of the green areas of Ciudad Bolívar for several years. But one day, a misfortune happened.

Doll was jumping, jumping, running, running through the green areas of the Protecho neighborhood at the same time that the Aseo Capital workers were mowing the lawn in the gardens.

Lawn mowers, whether it’s a trailing wheel or a güira that hangs from the body, have blades or plastic ropes that can cut enormously.

Without knowing how, or at what moment, Doll, who was running through those same green areas, was suddenly bleeding and with a single leg attached to her body. How could it happen? Nobody explains it. Some think that the dog threw herself towards the machine, getting under the blades; while others believe that the Aseo Capital operator was an opponent of animals and carried out a ruthless act of abuse.

We are not going to judge that for various reasons. One, that we were not at the scene. Two, we are nobody to judge something that we have not seen and three, because our blog only wants to tell real stories that awaken our sensitivity towards animals. To judge there are already other organisms.

Going back to the story, what happened next? The dog that lost three legs was assisted by several passers-by who took her to a veterinary clinic where she was treated urgently. The wounds were large and he had lost a lot of blood, but after several hours and a lot of effort they managed to save his life.

Soon Martha Ciro, the director of an Animal Defense Association, took care of the dog that lost three legs, since her owners, if she had them, had not appeared. For weeks, months, she took care of her hygiene, her diet, and also caring for and treating her wounds, as well as the medication she needed for pain and healing.

Martha, who was aware of what happened and who was responsible for the dog losing three legs, filed a complaint against the Aseo Capital company. It is not known if the trial was carried out or not or if they reached an agreement, what we do know is that Aseo Capital took care of all the expenses that the sad situation in which Muñeca was entailed.

They paid for his hospitalization, medicine, and agreed to pay for special prostheses for dogs that they made for Doll as a measure in the United States and sold through a Spanish company.

Doll, the dog that lost three legs, has now replaced them with three prostheses, which, although they will not allow her to be the same as before, they will facilitate mobility and life.
