It is said that Rin Tin Tin was the first famous dog and that he could even have saved Warner Bross from hidden bankruptcy. In addition, in the years when the German Shepherd breed was not very popular, Rin Tin Tin managed to encourage it and make everyone, including children, love this breed.

Rin Tin Tin was a dog abandoned by the Germans who lived during the First World War in a trench. An American officer named Lee Duncan adopted him and named him Rin Tin Tin, which he took from the little French dolls that girls gave to soldiers during the war.

Interestingly, Lee was a police dog handler, so after providing Rin Tin Tin with the necessary care since he was a puppy, he trained him as if he were a police dog. It didn’t take long for Rin Tin Tin’s intelligence to manifest itself when doing these tests. He far exceeded them, far above other dogs, with spectacular results.

Lee made a video of the overtaking of Rin Tin Tin and these images soon reached the film media, who could not ignore the intelligent animal. He starred in 22 films until he finally died in 1932. There were other dogs that succeeded him (up to 4) trained in the same way and with similar characteristics.

The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin

Following the success of the film, a series called “The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin” was created, starring child actor Lee Arker who played Rusty, an orphan boy who was raised by soldiers. Rusty and his German shepherd, Rin Tin Tin, helped the soldiers maintain order. This created a series of anecdotes, sometimes funny, that captured the attention of the public and made them want to continue to be hooked on this series.

It had a cast of well-known actors and its success was such that the character of Rin Tin Tin became a generational inheritance, since the fourth Rin Tin Tin was a direct descendant of the original.
